Emergency Medical Technology-Basic, COA

This one or two semester, ten-credit program prepares the student to work in the out-of-hospital setting as an entry level Emergency Medical Technician. Emphasis is placed on mastery of CPR, simple pharmacology for common medical emergencies, patient assessment, bandaging and splinting, vehicle extrication, and emergency childbirth. All credits in this program apply directly toward the paramedic certificate and emergency medical services AAS degree programs.

Matriculation Sequence: Students already licensed as a Medical First Responder should submit appropriate paperwork to the Prior Learning Assessment Office in order to obtain equivalent credit for EMT 105. These students may begin the EMT basic course sequence by enrolling in EMT 111.
