WELD 255 Advanced Inert Gas Welding
(Contact Hours: 7) This course covers skill training on larger, heavier material. Emphasis is placed on AWS D1.1 code welding requirements. Special consideration is placed on advanced pulsed GMAW and GTAW features of the welding processes including pulse welding parameter development, pulse GMAW and GTAW controls, larger diameter welding wires, work piece preparation, and all position welding on fillet and groove welds on steel and aluminum. Weld procedures to code acceptance standards are emphasized. Recommended prerequisite: WELD 182 and WELD 184 or WELD 191 and WELD 192, or equivalent experience. Minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
