CHM 100 Fundamentals of Chemistry

(Contact Hours: 5) This one-semester course is intended to introduce the non-science major to the basic concepts of chemistry. Topics will include elements, compounds, atomic structure, chemical bonding, chemical equations, reaction energy, solutions, acid-base chemistry, and gases. PREREQUISITE: Writing -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; Reading -- SAT: 22, Accuplacer: 53, NextGen Accuplacer: 248, ACT: 14, or COMPASS: 65, or TRS 096 and either TRS 104 or TRS 105 is REQUIRED; and Math -- SAT: 25.5, ALEKS: 30, Accuplacer (Elementary Algebra): 40, NextGen Accuplacer (Quantitative Reasoning): 220, ACT: 20, COMPASS (Algebra): 34, or MATH 096 is REQUIRED.
