MATH 096 Fundamentals of Algebra

(Contact Hours: 3) This course is intended for students who need to master the concepts often covered in a first-year high school algebra course. This course is intended to develop strength in algebraic reasoning. Emphasis will be placed on developing a conceptual understanding of symbolic, graphical, and tabular linear relationships. In addition, the course will develop an understanding of expressions using integer exponents and polynomial operations. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 23.5, ALEKS: 14, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 80, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 260, ACT: 18, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 50, or MATH 094 is REQUIRED.
