SOC 170 Introduction to Archaeology

(Contact Hours: 3) This course is an introduction to the modern practice of archaeology around the world. It investigates the methods and theories used in the field and how archaeologists reconstruct the human past from physical remains. The course examines the types of evidence studied by archaeologists and the kinds of information gained from using modern scientific techniques. The course is useful for a variety of fields in arts, humanities and social sciences, and it could fulfill a general education requirement. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced. ENG 110 or ENG 160 is recommended.
