Practical Nursing, CERT
The practical nursing certificate program prepares the student for a technical career in nursing and is approved by the Michigan Board of Nursing. It includes one semester of prerequisite course work and three semester of practical nursing course work for the full-time generic student. Upon successful completion of all practical nursing coursework, the graduate will receive a certificate in practical nursing and will be eligible to sit for the National Council Licensure Exam for the Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN). Employment opportunities include acute care hospitals, long-term acute care and extended care facilities, clinics, offices, home health and ambulatory care. Graduates may be eligible to continue to pursue a license as a Registered Nurse with the LPN to RN program track. The nursing department and academic counselors will assist students with degree advancement pathways.
