CHM 100 Fundamentals of Chemistry
(Contact Hours: 5) This one-semester course is intended to introduce the non-science major to the basic concepts of chemistry. Topics will include elements, compounds, atomic structure, chemical bonding, chemical equations, reaction energy, solutions, acid-base chemistry, and gases. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 19.5, ALEKS: 9, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 40, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 220, ACT: 15, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 29, or MATH 081 is REQUIRED.
