COM 241 Film Communication
(Contact Hours: 3) An introduction to short, animated, documentary, and feature length films, in which the student will explore the aesthetic and technical aspects of moviemaking. Students will learn about the importance of constructive film criticism for historical and contemporary films and will become more familiar with the "visual vocabulary" of movies. Through several writing assignments, students will engage in direct analysis of films and what/how they communicate. By examining films made by a diverse group of directors, the universal appeal and communication possibilities inherent in cinema will be revealed. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
