CUL 105 Culinary & Food Industry Math

(Contact Hours: 3) This course is primarily intended for students in the culinary/health and food innovation programs. The course will investigate several topics found in traditional mathematics courses but the approach will be culinary and food industry application-based. Emphasis will be placed on the following content areas: problem solving, profitability, sustainability, costing, measurements, conversions, yields, and percentages. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; Math - SAT: 23.5, ALEKS: 14, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 80, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 260, ACT: 18, or COMPASS (Pre-Algebra): 50, or successful completion of MATH 081, MATH 095, or MATH 097 is REQUIRED.
