EDU 207 Physical Science for Elem Ed
(Contact Hours: 5) This course is designed for elementary and middle school teachers using active engagement (using inquiry where possible) with ongoing focus on K-6 standards in core physical science ideas with attention to the relevance to engineering and science in society. Students will learn basic concepts of physics and chemistry and explore many of these through hands-on lab activities integrated with the subject matter. These activities will be applicable and adaptable to the K-6 classroom. This course is designed to build strong science content knowledge (in advance of later methods classes) that will develop a positive attitude towards science and confidence in an ability to teach science effectively. Minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
