HVAC 123 Refrigeration I
(Contact Hours: 4) The fundamental concepts of heat transfer, pressure, temperature, and other basic concepts are studied and applied to each component of the refrigeration system. The compression refrigeration system is studied with emphasis placed on system and component construction and operation. The use of specialized tools and equipment as-well-as refrigeration tubing, soldering equipment, refrigerants, gauges, hand tools, catalogs and other material are covered. The course emphasizes servicing refrigeration units. Studies in this course are directed at electrical and refrigerant control, defrost mechanisms, specialized components and accessories, and service procedures. Minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
