MATH 099 Foundations: College Algebra
(Contact Hours: 3) This corequisite course is designed to be taken concurrently with MATH 150 as part of our Accelerated Matriculation Program (AMP) courses. Support will focus on topics introduced in MATH 150. Those include linear, quadratic, exponential, logarithmic, absolute value, radical, rational, and polynomial functions. Other areas of support will focus on systems of equations, properties of exponents, and mathematical modeling. A graphing calculator is required for this course; a TI-83 or TI-84 is highly recommended. Students will develop conceptual and procedural tools used to develop understanding of the key mathematical concepts that will be built upon in College Algebra and subsequent Calculus courses. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 24.5, ALEKS: 25, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 99, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 279, ACT: 19, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 72, or COMPASS (Algebra): 17 is REQUIRED.
