PHY 180 Phys Science in Elem Education
(Contact Hours: 5) This inquiry-based course is designed for elementary teachers who would, it is expected, transfer this style of learning to their students. Students will learn the basic concepts of physics and discover the laws of physics by guided experimentation. They will use this approach in solving problems and further exploration of a variety of natural phenomena. Thus they will develop a positive attitude toward science and confidence in their ability to explain natural phenomena. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 19.5, ALEKS: 9, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 40, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 220, ACT: 15, or COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 29 is REQUIRED.
