HUM 103 The History of Hip Hop
(Contact Hours: 3) In this course, students will trace the course of hip-hop and rap music from its New York origins in the 1970s to the present day. They will examine hip-hop?s indelible bonds with African-American culture and its later influence and prominence in America generally and eventually worldwide. Students will listen to and analyze different styles of rap music and will examine visual art, fashion, dance, and other art forms associated with hip-hop.
