CHM 099 Basic Chemistry
(Contact Hours: 3) This non-laboratory course is designed to help students overcome their chemistry anxieties and to prepare them for CHM 100 or CHM 120. It is for students who have not had high school chemistry or who desire a refresher course. Chemical formulas, equations, solutions, atomic structure, chemical bonding and basic mathematics for chemical calculations will be emphasized. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 23.5, ALEKS: 14, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 80, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 260, ACT: 18, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 50, or MATH 094 is REQUIRED.
