ART 219 Studio Lighting

(Contact Hours: 7) This digital and film based course will examine the dimensions of artificial and studio lighting used in portrait, product, tabletop, still life, and fine art photography. Flash meters will be utilized to establish lighting balance and ratios for the application of electronic flash and strobe. Reflectors, diffusion banks, and backdrops will be used to explore the variations possible in creative studio lighting. Instruction in the soft and hard lighting techniques necessary for solving the general challenges of commercial lighting will also be included. Camera and some materials will be provided. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced. ART 132, ART 213, or ART 214 is recommended.
