MATH 098 Foundations: Finite & Stats

(Contact Hours: 3) This corequisite course is designed to be taken concurrently with MATH 120 as a part of our Accelerated Matriculation Program (AMP) courses. This course is intended for students who need to master the advanced foundational concepts need for success in Finite Mathematics and Statistics. Topics include the concepts of function, domain and range, inequalities, systems of linear equations, systems of linear inequalities, exponents, exponential and quadratic functions, and regression. Special emphasis will be placed on modeling and applications. A graphing calculator is required for this course; a TI-83 or TI-84 is highly recommended. The graphing calculator will be used to investigate graphical and numerical approaches to equations and problem solving. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 24.5, ALEKS: 25, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 99, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 279, ACT: 19, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 72, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 72, or MATH 087 is REQUIRED.
