MATH 216 Business Statistics
(Contact Hours: 3) This is an introductory course in descriptive and inferential statistics designed for business students. The course focuses primarily on business applications. Major topics of study will be: descriptive statistics, probability distributions and applications, measures of central tendency, variability and position, distribution shapes, hypothesis testing for means and for proportions, simple and multiple regression analysis, and interval estimation. These concepts will be applied using statistical analysis software and the TI-83/84 graphing calculator to make appropriate decisions regarding actual business problems. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 29.5, ALEKS: 61, Accuplacer (College Level): 60, NextGen Accuplacer (Advanced Algebra): 240, ACT: 26, COMPASS (Algebra): 79, or MATH 120 or MATH 150 is REQUIRED. MATH 120 is preferred.
