FRL 262 Deaf Culture & History
(Contact Hours: 3) This course presents the rich history and unique experiences of the American Deaf community. Students examine topics related to the origins of Deaf education, language diversity, effective communication, and achievements of notable Deaf Americans. The perspectives of deafness as a disability and Deafness as culture are explored. Students prepare to interact more effectively with members of the Deaf community in their places of employment, education, family, and social settings. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of FRL 161 is REQUIRED.
