MATH 097 Foundations: Technical Math

(Contact Hours: 3) This corequisite course is designed to be taken concurrently with MATH 106 as part of our Accelerated Matriculation Program (AMP) courses. This course is intended for students who need to master introductory foundational concepts needed for success in the industrial trades. Topics include decimals, fractions, percents, proportions, rates, algebraic expressions, formulas, solving linear equations, determining equations of linear relationships, and calculating measurements in one, two, and three-dimensions. Special emphasis will be placed on applications. A scientific calculator is required for this course. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 19.5, ALEKS: 9, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 40, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 220, ACT: 15, or COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 29 is REQUIRED.
