CHM 120 General Chemistry I

(Contact Hours: 6) This chemistry course builds on the knowledge gained from high school chemistry or introductory college chemistry. Content includes chemical terminology, stoichiometry, properties of gases, atomic theory, chemical bonding, and an introduction to solution chemistry and thermochemistry. Laboratory work is a valued integral component. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 24.5, ALEKS: 25, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 99, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 279, ACT: 19, or COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 72 is REQUIRED; or successful completion of CHM 100 or CHM 115 is REQUIRED.
