Paramedic, CERT
This certificate pathway is designed for EMTs who want to become paramedics without completing additional associate degree requirements. The paramedic is an allied health professional trained to perform critical and emergency medical intervention for both the traumatically injured and the acutely ill patient. The attributes needed to work as a paramedic include a complex knowledge of disease pathology, patient monitoring skills, and invasive skills necessary to provide patient care both on scene and during transportation. Paramedics function as the team lead in the pre-hospital setting providing an integral link between the public and access to the appropriate level of healthcare. Licensing/registration as an EMT is required for acceptance into the paramedic certificate program. Upon successful completion, Kalamazoo Valley qualifies students to take the NREMT exams and obtain Michigan Licensure.
*Please note this program requires a special application packet. Please see a health careers pathway advisor or counselor for more information and visit the Emergency Medical Services program page on our website for program information, FAQs, accreditation details, and more.
