EMT 136 Advanced Life Support I
(Contact Hours: 1.5) An essential component of paramedic education is the opportunity to treat real patients in the field setting under the supervision of a licensed preceptor and medical control physician support. Students will be assigned field work with advanced life support agencies throughout West Michigan?s 5th district. Students have the opportunity to formulate a field impression, based on analysis of their assessment findings and integrate psychomotor skills in the creation and implementation of a treatment plan. Students are required to document patient encounters across a spectrum of ages and complaints to meet the requirements of the National Registry of EMTs paramedic competency portfolio as required for exam eligibility. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of EMT 124 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: EMT 128 and EMT 154.
