ENG 079 English Basics & Reading

(Contact Hours: 5) This course teaches students the basics of the writing process, including parts of speech, grammar and punctuation, sentence structure, outlining, and paragraph development. It also focuses on the knowledge, comprehension, and application levels of Bloom's Taxonomy. During this course, students will work on developing skills in using the context, following directions, finding main ideas and details, decoding vocabulary, and blending these skills to read longer passages with greater comprehension. Students completing this course with at least a 2.0 are prepared to enter ENG 098 and TRS 102. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
