ART 132 Introduction to Photography

(Contact Hours: 7) This digital and film based course will familiarize the student with basic photographic principles. No previous photographic experience is necessary to take this class. Included will be light metering, natural light control, focus, depth of field and f-stop and shutter speed adjustments. When the camera controls are learned, basic computer applications (Photoshop/Lightroom) and black and white film development and print enlargement will be explored. Students will learn to mount and present their completed photographs. Lectures, discussion, group critiques, field trips and exhibition viewing will also be included. Camera and some materials will be provided. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
