DHY 105 Dental Assisting I

(Contact Hours: 6) This course covers the essentials of the basic background knowledge and skill needed for an entry-level dental assistant. The dental assisting student is introduced to the importance of a variety of delegated tasks including infection control, medical history assessment, and four handed dentistry for restorative and surgical procedures. PREREQUISITE: Writing -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; Reading -- SAT: 22, Accuplacer: 53, NexGen Accuplacer: 248, ACT: 14, or COMPASS: 65, or EDU 096 or ENG 099 is REQUIRED; and Math -- SAT: 23.5, ALEKS: 14, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 80, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 260, ACT: 18, COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 50, or MATH 081, MATH 087, MATH 095, or MATH 097 is REQUIRED. Admission to the program is also REQUIRED.
