Social Work, AA
Social work is a broadly defined profession encompassing many different kinds of professionals who all serve people in need. The International Federation of Social Workers calls social work “an interrelated system of values, theory and practice.” Social workers are unique in the way that they look at many different aspects of a problem, from the individual to the societal, from the psychological to the political. Common ways of serving clients include providing counseling, therapy, and education, as well as connecting clients to appropriate public or private resources.
This program is designed for students who intend to transfer to a four-year college or university. Requirements may be updated prior to the start of the Fall 2022 semester. Students completing this program should consult a counselor or advisor to develop their degree plan and for registration advice.

Transfer Notes: It is important to speak with a counselor or advisor early in course work for the associate degree. Admission to a bachelor’s degree program in social work is often competitive and requires a specific grade point average in several courses. Many programs also require completion of related volunteer experience.
