DHY 244 Pain Management
(Contact Hours: 2) This course provides the basic and current concepts of local anesthetics, nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation, and other pain management modalities. Included is the rationale for pain control, psychological considerations, selection of pain management modalities, armamentarium, essential anatomy, neurophysiology, pharmacology, systemic complications, safety and administration, infection control, post-operative instruction, record keeping, risk management, and complications of anesthetic agents. PREREQUISITE: Successful completion of DHY 131 and DHY 139 is REQUIRED. Corequisite: DHY 241, DHY 242, DHY 248, and DHY 249 are recommended.
