BIO 115 Human Anatomy & Physiology I

(Contact Hours: 6) This course is the first in a two-semester sequence of human anatomy and physiology. This first course presents a detailed study of structure and function of five of the eleven human body systems. The role of cells, tissue, and organ systems in maintaining body function and homeostasis will be emphasized in the integumentary, skeletal, muscular, nervous, and endocrine systems. This course uses a lecture and laboratory format to illustrate the concepts of anatomy and physiology and provides the foundations for further study in the health careers. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 19.5, ALEKS: 9, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 40, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 220, ACT: 15, or COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 29, or MATH 081 is REQUIRED.
