CHM 120 General Chemistry I

(Contact Hours: 6) This is a college chemistry course that builds on the knowledge gained from a high school chemistry course or introductory college chemistry course such as CHM 100. Content includes chemical terminology, stoichiometry, properties of gases, atomic theory, chemical bonding, and an introduction to solution chemistry and thermochemistry. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced; and Math -- SAT: 24.5, ALEKS: 25, Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 99, NextGen Accuplacer (Arithmetic): 279, ACT: 19, or COMPASS (PreAlgebra): 72 is REQUIRED; or successful completion of CHM 100 or CHM 115 is REQUIRED.
