HUM 225 The Arts in the Community
(Contact Hours: 3) This course guides students to an appreciation of the arts in the Kalamazoo area through experiential learning. The rich cultural life in and around Kalamazoo will serve as an extended classroom for student learning. Students will prepare for off-campus visits in class, and discuss their visits afterwards. They will write papers and keep journals reacting to and evaluating their experiences, and they will be encouraged to use a variety of audio/visual means - audio and video recordings, computer slide shows, e-mail communication, etc. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced.
