COM 223 Intercultural Communication

(Contact Hours: 3) This course is designed to follow COM 113 and builds on principles of interpersonal communication. Students will explore concepts and models specific to communication across cultural boundaries and then apply these to at least one cultural situation outside the U.S. Students will also examine the culture of U.S., various co-cultures, and gender as a communication culture. To these ends, readings, discussions, practice, research and writing are used. PREREQUISITE: Writing and Reading -- minimum benchmarks will be enforced. COM 113 is recommended.
