ECE 101 Intro to Early Childhood Educ
(Contact Hours: 4) This course introduces students to developmentally appropriate practices for children aged birth to 8 years within multiple caregiving settings. Students will explore various early childhood resources, tools, and standards for high-quality programming and will reflect on the utilization of these resources to create early childhood learning environments which meet the developmental needs of all children. The NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct will be used as a tool to guide students? problem-solving skills as typical early childhood situations are explored. Lastly. Students will reflect on their professional goals within early childhood and learn continuing education expectations and various career opportunities available within the field of early childhood education. A 15-hour field experience is required in which students will identify and practice basic concepts of appropriate interaction with young children. Prior in-field experiences may be considered to fulfill a portion of the required field experience hours.
